An Idea Whose Time Has Come

I saw this posted on Facebook, and several thoughts occurred to me as I pondered this clearly brilliant room arrangement for multiple young ladies.

  1. That is an extremely high ceiling.
  2. That is an extremely wide bedroom.
  3. That is an extremely elegant version of what My Husband (may he live forever and may the sun ever shine upon his Roo-leather hat) produced in our girly room.

I mean, sure, it’s fancy and stuff,
with the whole built-in ladder/staircase thing,
and the built-in shelving,
and the attractive mouldings,
and the built-in lighting fixtures….
I guess I can see a certain aesthetic appeal there…

But seriously.

What kid wouldn’t rather labor and sweat all day
and get covered in sawdust helping their dad build this
rugged,
do-it-yourself,
raw lumber,
ready-to-graffiti-tag and personalize with posters and artwork
bunk bed?

Well, alright, maybe not all girls would enjoy that.
But my girls sure did.
And for the record,
I did offer them real paint,
thinking they might want to “class up” the 4×4’s and 2×4’s,
but no.
They LOVED the spray paint
(though it did require some significant air movement to clear the fumes). 🙂

There are many roads to awesome.

We take the road-less-spendy.

Yes, that picture you posted first was really quite ellegant…but my first response was, “Well! That looks familiar!” ..just a bit less elegant, perhaps…but every bit as functional…and probably WAAAY sturdier, eh?
